Easter Weekend Stay at The Globe - Warwickshire, UK

The Globe Warwickshire

The Globe in Warwickshire has a very prime location with lots of attractions just at a short walking distance from the hotel. Although they don’t have their own car space, there’s a car park just at a stone’s throw where parking is available 24 hours a day at a very reasonable rate. Besides that, there’s also an option for on street parking, but the parking lot offers a better rate in terms of price.

We had a very smooth check-in at The Globe in Warwickshire and Paul was kind enough to accompany us to our room which had been booked for the night! First impressions first - I was truly excited to see the four poster bed in our bedroom and although the bed was big enough for the three of us to share, the staff had also prepared another single bed for the little one too.

The room had been very tastefully decorated, with a mix of modern touches and the dark walls added a character to the room! I was delighted there was enough space for BabyN’ to run around and to explore every corner of the room! Also, I really liked the corner with a coffee table, definitely adding one such corner in my house when I’m going to redecorate it next year!

The room fridge provided in our room had complimentary water bottles (still and sparkling) - much needed that day, because of the warm temperature that prevailed that weekend! Also, there were a few other drinks already in the fridge & the price list was placed carefully on the top of the fridge. The highlight on the study table was a quirky radio, and BabyN’ was really excited to play different channels.

The stylish dressing corner with a fancy mirror and two wash basins was perfect. Our room had a shower and a separate toilet and the amenities in our room included an iron and stand, hair dryer (something extremely important for me to use after a shower), bath robes, tea and coffee facility and toiletries.

The restaurant's menu strategy has been formulated to ensure it cater's to everyone's needs and that's the reason why they've created a menu with a range of delicious dishes suitable for most of the types of tastes, lifestyles and ages including a healthy kids menu. Fresh produce such as grains, fruits and vegetables and sustainably caught fish is used to create dishes. Moreover, the menu reflects the flavours of the Mediterranean and their famous Josper charcoal ovens are used to produce high quality dishes.

For a three course dinner at the restaurant downstairs, we opted for Mozzarella di bufala bruschetta (£8), risotto (£6) and garlic bread (£2.50) as starters. Garlic and basil marinated marzanino tomatoes placed on a Josper grilled sourdough is what I happily gobbled down. I did try the risotto, it was creamy and filling.

Mains were Josper grilled seabass (£16.50) courgette and paper and sweet potato hash and pan fried salmon (£15.50) served with mash potatoes, asparagus and Bearnaise sauce. From the kids menu, we ordered battered cod (£5) that was served with tartare sauce and peas with house fries as a side.

We were too full to eat anything else after the mains, so just decided to share a dessert and ordered a banoffee sundae (£6.50) that included chocolate brownie pieces, sliced banana, vanilla ice cream, crushed biscuit, baked banana caramel sauce and mascarpone cream that was a great combination of ingredients. For the little one, we ordered two scoops of ice cream (£2.50) - strawberry and vanilla.

I appreciated the fact that the portion sizes were quite generous and the meals were freshly prepared in the kitchen. Also, they provided a colouring sheet and some colour pencils for BabyN' to keep him busy and entertained before the food was served on the table.

After the much needed sleep after a busy day spent a day before, we all woke up and dressed to fuel for the day. From the menu, we decided to order some hot food that included Eggs Funghni and Eggs Royale along with some coffee for breakfast and picked up some baked goodies and juices from the breakfast table at the restaurant.

Eggs Funghni - Grilled portobello mushrooms, poached free range eggs topped with rocket on a toasted English muffin with some hollandaise sauce drizzled on it.

Eggs Royale - Smoked salmon, poached free range eggs on a toasted English muffin and hollandaise sauce drizzled on it.

I’m really fond of having eggs for breakfast, so I finished the plate soon after it was served and ended the most important meal of the day with a glass of apple juice.

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel, and the best part was that everything was easily accessible by walk. I’d recommend visiting the Warwick Castle, Kenilworth Castle & Elizabethen Garden and if you have some more time, then definitely explore the town centre. There are many other attractions that might interest you as well.
