Lamb Kofta Curry Recipe

Shab-e-Barat, a holiday observed by the Muslims falls during mid Sha'ban which is the 8th month of the Islamic calendar, and this night is special for the Muslims because it has been regarded as the night on which the fortunes for the coming year are decided and it's also the night when Allah forgives sins. To mark this occasion, the Muslims also arrange for prayers for the forgiveness of their deceased ancestors and visit graveyards in the remembrance of their loved ones. Moreover, the Shia Muslims also commemorate the birthday of the 12th Imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi and different meals are cooked in the Muslim homes to mark this great day! Other cultural things observed by Muslims include cooking and distributing various types of 'halwas' in the neighbourhood - such as suji halwa, chana daal halwa or almond halwa, to name a few! Moreover, they also lit firecrackers and decorate their homes with lights. For this special Muslim occasion, I've shared the recipe of Lamb Kofta Curry that anyone can enjoy with family and friends.

Lamb Kofta Curry Recipe

The Major Ingredient - The Lamb!

Being a versatile ingredient, lamb is loved by people from all cultures and walks of life, especially because of the numerous recipes that can be created by using different cuts of lamb making it a perfect ingredient for every day meals or for special occasions.

Lamb Try it, Love it

The EU funded Lamb Try it, Love it campaign has enabled people to discover the unique flavours of lamb at their convenience. The Lamb Kofta Curry recipe is a popular protein-packed Indo-Pak dish, perfect for special occasions. The European farms produce premium and high quality European lamb using sustainable practices, and the contribution made to the local economies by the farmers for producing the best meat for the consumers is praise worthy as there's nothing like fresh and tender lamb. Thus, making it an absolutely exciting ingredient to use in the kitchen while cooking.

Variety of Cuts of Lamb

I wouldn't hesitate in defining lamb as a fantastic ingredient, because it can't just be used for one all time favourite dish i.e. lamb roast served with baked vegetables and gravy, but can also be used in lots of different recipes and in a variety of cuisines. Even by using the economical cuts of lamb, one can easily produce incredible lamb dishes. There are lots of different cuts of lamb - rump, leg, shank, breast, chop, loin rack, neck and shoulder but personally, I love eating the juicy pieces from the lamb shank and there are lots of other recipes such as Lamb Dum Biryani and Lamb Kofta Curry that are our family favourites! Lots of everyday meals can be prepared using lamb as an ingredient in just 30 minutes, and lamb is not just easily available and affordable, but full of flavour too!

Health Benefits of Lamb

Amentioned earlier, high quality lamb is packed with proteins and is very healthy enabling the consumers to get all the essential nutrients, more importantly the 7 vitamins and minerals including vitamin B12 and niacin that leads to a healthy lifestyle. If lamb is not currently a part of your everyday diet, then I would definitely suggest adding this essential ingredient to your diet to ensure well being and to get all that nutrition your body needs.

Once you try it, you're definitely going to love it! For more information on lamb and the lamb try it, love it campaign, click here.

  4. These sound interesting. We normally have beef kofte so lamb might make a nice change. Not had kofte in curry form that I remember.
