Top 5 European Destinations for Family Travel

Paris, France

Although the French capital is often billed as the city of lovers, it can also be a perfect holiday destination that can be explored with kids. With the best indoor and outdoor things to do with kids in Paris, they will definitely stay entertained. Lots of free museums in Paris allow free entry to visitors or purchase tickets and visit the Parc Zoologique where the young ones can enjoy seeing the animals.

Take the kids to Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, a giant playground for the children which is free to enter, and a perfect spot for hiking. Lots of other seasonal activities going on at the park can also keep the whole family entertained. Just a short train ride from the city is Disneyland Paris. Meet your favourite characters and enjoy the Halloween and Christmas celebrations that will be held in the coming months. Also, don’t miss the opportunity of eating chocolate and crepes whenever possible! Check out my previous post on the top 5 things to see in Paris, here.

Rome, Italy

Rome is the capital of ancient history, and also a place with beauty and great cuisine. Lots of historic sites are being taught to children at school, so it would be lovely to coordinate it with the curriculum being followed at the school and plan trips to places such as the Colosseum and the Vatican City. This is definitely going to be an investment in your child’s academic future, and the whole family can also enjoy gelato and pizzas.

Amsterdam, Holland

It wouldn’t be good to miss a boat ride when in Amsterdam! If your children are big enough to ride a bike, it would be a brilliant idea to get one for the whole family and go on the tour together. I remember reading ‘The Dairy of Anne Frank’ when I was at school, so I was really keen to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. The place offers an insight into the horrors of war, and tells about the life of Anne Frank. You can also take the children to Madame Tussaud’s, where amongst the wax statues of the many known celebrities, you’ll also find Anne Frank’s wax statue. Also, make sure to try the Dutch frites and cheese and you can also visit Efteling, known to be Holland’s favourite theme park. London, UK

Both playgrounds and glorious parks all over the city, makes it a must for you to take your kids to London. The capital city of the UK offers plenty activities to keep your young ones entertained, with their best parks for families, options for various activities and days out. Lots of museums within the city are free to enter - our personal favourite is the Natural History Museum. Also, you could take kids to the various other attractions such as Sea Life London, London Zoo and Kidzania. Just 16 miles from Sea Life London is the Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey, a theme park and zoo where kids can enjoy the rides and they’ll also get to see the animals.
