FOODERY - Halal Ready Meal Pots Review

I'm so glad to see that the Halal food market is thriving and the entrepreneurs are coming up with innovative ideas for introducing new brands in the UK market.

Every time I used to go to the stores, I just used to wish if there could be some Halal meal options available in the stores. The food looked so tempting and convenient but my dreams were shattered when I wasn't able to see the Halal tag on them and so the only options left for me were the vegetarian ones. Personally, I do not enjoy vegetarian food much. I have to have meat with it, otherwise the meals just feel incomplete to me.

About Foodery:

Foodery has launched Halal ready meal pots and are currently available in 3 flavours - Thai Green Chicken Curry, Moroccan Chicken Tagine and Jamaican Jerk Chicken.

Where can you buy these?

The Halal ready meal pots are now selling at Tesco and Asda. You can find your nearest store selling the Foodery meal pots, here.

FOODERY - Halal Ready Meal Pots Review

How can you benefit?

It's convenient since its a proper cooked meal in a pot with a combination of veggies and meat so it's definitely a good option for especially those who are working and can't spend much time on cooking.

I've even gone through the nutritional value and the calories and all these three ready meal pots that I've tried are not marked red. Although I'm not much conscious about avoiding the food concentrated in fats, my husband is. So every time we buy something, he looks out for the calories in every product he consumes.

Although I'm not too fond of ready meal pots but they definitely come in handy especially in emergency situations when there's nothing cooked or simply when you're not in the mood to cook. At the moment, Foodery has introduced three recipes in the market, which are retailing for £2.5 for each pot. The only thing you need to do is to remove the sleeve of the lid and half-open it before heating it for 3.5 minutes.

The first one I tried was Moroccan Chicken Tagine. It was meant to be medium but was actually hot. My husband and I tasted it but it was too hot for BabyN' so we didn't even offer him. I do not mind spicy food sometimes but generally I cook with mild spices. The first thing that came to my mind after eating this meal pot was the taste of spicy biryani (Indian dish) with lots of garam masala (an Indian spice mix). The vegetables had been cooked well. Besides that, it had cous cous and butternut squash.

The Thai green chicken curry comes with rice along with red peppers, which I like, and baby sweet corns and green beans. The flavour of the ginger was dominant over all the other ingredients so if you like ginger, you'll enjoy this meal pot too! For me, there were too many beans, which I did eat initially but later I just kept them on a side of my plate.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken was the third and the last pot I tried. This ready meal pot says hot but according to me it was mild. This pot had sweet potatoes, rice, green beans, red kidney beans and chicken. I think the chicken had been cooked separately because it had different spices and it wasn't mixed with the other things so the flavour of the chicken were also coming through. It came in handy because I hadn't prepared a meal that night and since I was alone, it was enough for me to fill my tummy.

If I was asked to choose these ready meal pots according to my preference, I would go for Jamaican Jerk Chicken, then Moroccan Chicken Tagine and lastly Thai green chicken curry. I personally won't go for ready meals on a regular basis but they are definitely a good option when you don't want to wait for food to be delivered or just want a quick meal. When I am alone and I think of ordering food, I need to consider a minimum amount to avoid the delivery charge so I believe the ready meal pots are the most economical option. Give it a try, then decide it for yourself!

What is your favourite on-the-go meal?
