CANADA: 5 Things to See In Niagara

22:29 Blogs by FA 45 Comments

I am so excited to write my latest post on one of my favourite tourist destinations located in one of my favourite countries in the world. Brainstorming the possibilities already? You need not any more! I am going to write about my trip to Niagara in Canada and leave you with jaw-dropping pictures of the beautiful Niagara Falls and increase your quest to plan your trip to the lovely city.

When I was a child, I had studied about the Niagara Falls and wanted to see them ever since. It was finally in my 20's when I got the opportunity to visit Canada with all thanks to my wonderful husband who sponsored the trip.

Ah, an important fact: This was the last time I had my McDonald's Happy Meal. Just realized, it's been long enough now. Time to get a new toy Minion! Well, that's what I got when I was waiting at Dubai airport to board the flight to Toronto.

Since Canada is on the extreme corner of the world, the flight was quite long. Yes - 16 hour flight with a stopover at Amsterdam. That's too much, isn't it? This was the very first flight of my life that was SO LONG and I was slightly scared by the thought that I would be flying above the sea for so many miles with no land in between. It is something physiological but flying above the sea always scares me than when the aeroplane flies above land. Anyhow, after much wait, flying from Dubai airport to Toronto's Pearson airport, I took a breath of sigh, and was much happy to see family waiting to receive us.

I was all jet-lagged and slept so much that day since afternoon that I woke up the next morning, and the very next morning, our lovely hosts took us to Niagara. It is 81 miles from Toronto and has a population of 81,300 according to the Census conducted in Canada in 2o11.

Feeling enlightened much?

Niagara Falls & Maid of the Mist Tour

We reached Niagara by car and headed straight to the Niagara Falls. I was truly astounded on seeing the magnificence. It was much more beautiful than what I had thought of. The views were stunning and I was in an awe. After a quick photo-shoot, we went to a nearby mall to freshen up and buy some candies for the kids while our tickets for the Maid of the Mist tour were being arranged.

The tour tickets cost $19.75 for adults and $16.25 for children. They provide rain coats that you are supposed to wear if you don't want to get wet by the water that sprinkles when on tour on the Maid of the Mist

It was extremely enjoyable and we were able to have a closer view of the falls that left me totally mesmerized.

Once our Maid of the Mist tour ended, we were too hungry to think about anything else and headed straight towards an Italian restaurant which was located inside the Niagara Market Place, a few minutes walk from the falls!

Hotels, Towers and Casinos

Observation towers such as the Skylon Tower is of the tourist attractions. It is a revolving dining area 226 metres above Niagara Gorge.

There are also some casinos from which Casino Niagara and Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort are the most famous ones.

Besides this, there are several hotels, souvenir shops and colourful billboards and advertisements.

Botanical Gardens

The botanical gardens are really beautiful with different colourful flowers planted in huge rows. The views are really nice and we captured several pictures around those lovely flowers.

Clifton Hill

This is very popular among the tourists and features Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum along with arcades, haunted houses and wax museums. There are also some themed restaurants such as the very popular Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood. An aquatic theme park, MarineLand, IMAX theatre, Daredevil museum, MGM Studios Plaza are some more attractions in Clifton Hill.

Niagara Skywheel is another popular attraction, you might want to sit on it and have view the city that looks stunning especially at night.

Niagara At Night

We explored the city throughout the day and stayed there till night when again we decided to see the Niagara Falls one last time before leaving the city. To my amazement, the falls looked even more beautiful with nightly illumination that had been done as several colours of lights embellished the falls which look absolutely stunning. There are also weekly fireworks but I could not witness them since it was not that day on which they are being fired. This was the end of our tour of the city which we thoroughly enjoyed.

  21. Gorgeous pictures of the falls!

I am Canadian but have only been to Niagara once, since it's all the way on the other side of the country. Other must-see places in Canada are Banff and the Rocky Mountains - just incomparable beauty all around and Vancouver, which is stunning, especially in summer.

  23. I live in Toronto, and I absolutely do love and enjoy going to Niagara Falls, there is much to see, do, eat, and experience. You have to return as you can take a tour of the class 6 Rapids, visit the Upside down house, take a ride on the great wheel, enjoy countless fun at the Midway and play lots of games, take a horse drawn carriage ride, take a helicopter tour over the falls, enjoy the hardrock cafe, lots of parks, museums, marine land, great wolf lodge, walk over to the USA side, there's even a huge Buddist Temple, lots of quaint B&B's, and at night.....enjoy the Festival of Lights, and many more activities!

Ooh, you can also purchase various packages varying in price f about 60.00 per person and enjoy at least up to have attractions and free transportation up to 48 hours.....
