5 halal restaurants to dine in when in toronto canada

Paramount Fine Foods - Middle Eastern Cuisine:

With more than 24 locations all over Canada, Paramount Fine Foods has been growing well and has been serving authentic food with their exotic recipes. When I was on a visit to Toronto on my 14 days trip, I went to this restaurant for dinner at least thrice! Yes, it was that good.

I liked the ambience and the decor has been done nicely done. The staff is very polite and efficient. For kids, they do have a small play area as well so you can enjoy your food while the kids can play.

We ordered Mixed BBQ Platter, Mixed Combo Platter, Mini Mixed Grill that included grilled skewers of striploin beef, shish tawouk and kafta served with grilled tomatoes and onions, with a piece of spicy bread and a side of hummus and garlic sauce. I don't know the prices because I did not pay on any of the visits and I cannot find their prices on the website.

I would also recommend Paramount Fine Foods for family get together and dinner parties. They had ample free parking available outside the restaurant in Mississauga where we dined, so I hope it is also available at other locations. You can see their menu, here

Bamiyan Kabob - Afghan Cuisine:

Bamiyan Kabob toronto canada
After a long flight from Dubai when my husband and I landed in Toronto, this was the first restaurant we went to. It was on our way to our host's home so they first treated us with the delicious food at Bamiyan Kabob. Really enjoyed the meal, the prices are moderate, the food is full of taste and the servings are very generous. They have 6 locations - East York, North York, Markham, Mississauga, Malton Mississauga and Richmond Hill.

On the menu, Bamiyan Kabob has Bamiyan Kabob meal items that are all served with rice, salad and naan bread and cost between $9.99-$13.99 per serving. They also have wraps and some side orders on the menu.

We went to this restaurant twice, and were equally happy on the second visit as well. The second time was on our way back to the airport when we were leaving Toronto! You can see their menu, here

ZAUQ - Pakistani, Indian & Chinese Cuisine:

At Zauq, we just ordered Pakistani food. It was a Zauq BBQ platter ($28.99) that included 6 varities of meat (Seekh Kebab, Reshmi Kebab, Behari Chicken, Harabhara Chicken Malai Tikka and Beef Bihari Kebab).

It was served with assorted sauces and chutneys and we had it with with naan bread ($1.49 each). The meal serving was good enough for 4 people. It was freshly cooked and tasted so good! Loved the sauces that enhanced the flavour of the meat.

After the main course, we also ordered a dessert, Ras Malai, which was delicious. 3 peices are served in one bowl and it costs $3.99. I loved it! They also serve some other Pakistani desserts such as Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Carrot Halwa and their special Zauq Kulfi.

Would definitely go to this restaurant again when I visit Toronto. Zauq is located in Mississauga, you can see their menu, here (link removed because its broken)

Hakka Village - Chinese Cuisine:

The hosts and my husband loves Chinese food so we dined at Hakka Village and several other Chinese restaurants A LOT!  Really!

Hakka Village is located in Brampton that serves delicious Chinese food. We normally ordered 2-3 kinds of different soups that included chicken corn and hot and sour soup (large bowl costs $9.99 and is good for 4 people). Hakka noodles were the best because of the smoky flavour and the red chilli sauce! I think they cost us $9.99. With the fried rice we have tried Hakka Village Chicken, Schezuan Chicken, Manchurian Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, General Tsao Chicken, Cashew Nut Chicken and you can say, almost all of their menu! Costs $9.49 each and is good for 4 people.

We parked just outside the restaurant so there wasn't any issue finding a parking. The restaurant does not have a very big dining area but it can accommodate up to 25-35 people at a time. Unfortunately, they don't have a website, but you can check their menu, here

Royal Jasmine - Chinese Cuisine:

Like I said earlier, most of the time we ate, we opted for Chinese, so here is another restaurant that serves authentic Hakka cuisine. Royal Jasmine is located at the Dixie Street in Mississauga, it is a nice and clean place that can accommodate lots of people at a time.

We ordered sweet corn soup that costs $11.49 for a large serving and serves 4 people. We also choose the food from their special range in the menu that costs $9.99 per person and includes soup, 2 veg rolls and a main dish that is served with steamed Jasmine rice. For the main dish my husband and I ordered Manchurian Chicken and Beef Chilli. You can see their menu, here

  34. I don't keep Halal (I'm Catholic/pseudo Anglican, anyway), but I'm surprised at the LACK of premium Halal restaurants in the city. People of all faiths and all with all dietary concerns - whether health or religious - want to have nice meals out sometimes. And while Paramount is good for comfort food, they really lack healthier/vegetarian choices. One shouldn't just be limited to eating falafel, salad and manakeesh.
