Is My Child Ready for Nursery?

If you’re wondering whether or not to send your child to nursery, you are not the only one. Lots of parents wonder if their child is old enough for nursery; it can actually be quite a stressful experience for parents while they try to make childcare arrangements. Read on for some advice from a private nursery school in Hertfordshire

There are lots of reasons why parents choose to send their children to nursery. For some, it’s because work commitments leave them no choice. For others, it’s simply to help their child develop confidence and other important social skills. Whatever your reason for considering nursery, it’s important to know that there is no right or wrong age to send your child. Every child is different and every family has a unique set of requirements; you have to do what is right for your family as a whole.

Most nurseries accept babies from three months but if you don’t think they’re ready, you might want to consider a parent and baby group. This will introduce them to the idea of nursery from a young age by giving them the opportunity to learn and explore, while socialising with other children.

When the time comes for you to visit some nurseries, be sure to take your little one along with you. This will allow you to see how they interact with the environment and the staff. Ask lots of questions about day-to-day life at the nursery and what sort of things they facilitate. For example, do they provide food and drink or will you need to pack a lunchbox? What time do they let the children eat or nap? Essentially, you need to figure out if the nursery will suit your child’s current routine so that you can determine whether or not it’s the right time for them to go.
