Top romantic destinations of 2019

It’s time to start booking up for a romantic trip away with your other half. Whether you're planning on taking a road trip, or flying across the world in a private jet (learn more on Jettly and similar websites) - a vacation is always a great idea! You both deserve a romantic trip away from home, but often, an unfamiliar location brings the biggest dilemma of what to pack!

Riga, Latvia

For those who appreciate interesting architecture, Riga poses the perfect location for any romantic couple looking to explore and take countless photos. This city has so much to offer, so you better be booking those flights! When you head to this location, you’ll need to take a stroll through Central Market and indulge in everything the city has to offer. Aside from this, you’ll also need to visit some of the iconic museums in the city.

What to wear:

It can get extremely cold in Latvia, so you need to make sure you’re prepared. If you’re heading out to the Old City for a romantic walk with your partner, opt for a simple tee and a neutral coloured jacket. Pair with jeans and boots and you’re sorted.

Casual is key to fashion success in this city. However, you must remember your hats, gloves and scarves for when you’re walking back to your hotel! For visiting quaint cafes during the day, opt for a bold roller neck jumper and match with denim mom jeans, accompanied by some flat trainers and your favourite backpack. For date night however, choose one of your favourite dresses and pair with some chunky heels. Don’t forget your faux fur panel jacket to stay on trend.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Every young couple would want to head to Reykjavik sometime this year, so make sure you’re all booked up for any of the coming months! From sitting under the stars with hot chocolate to having snowball fights, there’s so much you can do. As well as this, you might enjoy taking a relaxing spa day to another level by visiting the Blue Lagoon. There’s no denying that the climate in the Nordic country is extremely different to our own, so what should you wear?

What to wear:

Heading to Iceland without a winter coat is a big no-no. Rock bright hues that will make you stand out against the snowy backdrop when venturing outside — such as the Golden Circle tour. Hiking boots are also essential on this trip, especially if you’re moving outside of the city centre. Opt for something bright that will make you the star of the show when in Reykjavik. Think of roll-necks, jumper dresses and hoodies! Thermals and hiking boots are a must for external trips. For a night time excursion, you can still wear your heels — just pick the perfect (and warm) dress to match! Equipped with a faux fur coat, you’ll be able to keep this in the cloakroom!

Plovdiv, Bulgaria

If you and your partner love indulging in historic culture, this destination will truly blow your mind but don’t think that history is all Plovdiv has to offer, as there is also a great modern scene that is waiting for your arrival. Make sure to check out the activities on offer before booking up. Will you be heading to the world’ most intact ancient theatre or taking a trip to an aviation museum? The choice is yours.

What to wear:

You can’t go to Plovdiv without arming yourself with a waterproof jacket. Besides this, you’ll need some viable walking boots for your outdoor adventures. However, it’s important to make yourself the star of the show when out in Plovdiv, especially for those Instagram pics. Pack a cute t-shirt and pair with loose fitting mom jeans and flat trainers. Take a backpack to keep your belongings in and a jacket for when you get cold walking back to your hotel. On warmer nights, pull out your chic maxi dress - you’ll look phenomenal! Remember to opt for a wedged boot too!

Krakow, Poland

I'm sure you know someone who has taken a trip to Krakow. Flights to this city aren’t too pricey either, so it makes the perfect getaway for the most romantic day of the year while sticking to a budget! The list of things to do here is endless. From partying in the main square to visiting castles and cathedrals, make sure you have enough time to explore everything.

What to wear:

For romantic walks, this is the place to be! Stay casual for daytime adventures with a striped tee, leather jacket and some denim jeans. You can pull this outfit together with chunky boots or trainers — it’s entirely up to you! For more casual occasions, an over-sized shirt is a must. Pair these with some knee-high boots that are suitable for walking around the city with your other half. Dressing for a night out in Krakow can be fun, but for date night itself, be the star of the show with a chic dress and matching jacket — and of course, heels!

  1. What some amazing sounding places to jet off to this year. We have a holiday planned in the UK but nothing more, perhaps we need to head overseas!

  2. i really enjoyed Krakow when I went there about 4-5 years back and it was so cheap. Reykjavik has been on my wish list for a long time and I really want to go for my 30th next January so we'll see if we can get saving x
