The Abbey Hotel Redditch

The Abbey Hotel, Golf & Spa located in Redditch (Worcestershire), is a family run 4 star hotel that is being run with the vision to be the best independent hotel in the Midlands in order to not just create great experiences for the hotel guests, but also to create lasting memories for them. The entities focusing more on their core values have always been successful as they strive hard to come up to, rather it would be better saying 'exceeding customer expectations.'

My family and I reached the hotel after a delay of one hour more than the expected time of the journey due to the heavy traffic  we encountered on the way. Luckily, there was no hassle of looking around for the parking because The Abbey Hotel has it's own massive car park, which is complimentary for the hotel guests. Definitely plus-point for choosing to stay at the hotel!

After a smooth check-in, we headed straight to our room on the first floor. It was good sized, with a huge bed, writing desk with stool, cupboard, a tub chair and sofa that had been turned into a bed for BabyN' and he himself managed to spot a cute gesture on it - a packet of jelly beans!

The bathroom had a separate bath and a shower with all the required toiletries, so the first thing I did to unwind from our 4 hour road trip was to soak in a warm bubble bath before taking a quick shower so we could plan ahead for dinner that night.

I always check out all the drawers at the hotels, to get a better idea of the amenities available and to my surprise besides finding a hair dryer and an iron, I also found a Holy Bible in one of the bedside drawer. In the past several years, I've stayed at lots of hotels but it was the FIRST time I've ever found a Holy book at a hotel.

The Abbey Hotel offers both in room dining and breakfast in bed options but we didn't avail any of them because we had our dinner planned elsewhere and for the breakfast, we didn't want to miss the beautiful view of the golf course so decided to go to the Bramblings restaurant to enjoy a buffet style breakfast and to get some positive vibes to start the day. We got to see stunning panoramic views of the golf course and the grounds. For the meals the restaurant offers a seasonal, casual yet creative menu for which the best ingredients are sourced locally. Moreover, the guests can also enjoy afternoon tea between Monday to Saturday (12:00 - 5:00 pm) with two options - traditional £16.95 & savoury £18.95 while children's afternoon tea costs £11.

The Abbey Hotel also has an impressive spa and health club. You can indulge in spa treatments using products such as ESPA and Dermalpgica with 20% off on bookings between Monday to Thursday. Isn't that a great offer? Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the pool as we reached the hotel after the pool was closed and had to leave early in the morning before it opens. The pool timings aren't mentioned on the hotel's website so I called the hotel to check with them to ensure that we could use it, but we reached just 15 minutes before the closing time due to the extra hour it took for us to drive to the hotel. The adult only pool timing is between 12-4 pm while the children can go between 10:00am -12:00pm & 4:00pm - 7:00pm all days except Thursday between 4:00 till 6:30 pm. The hotel also has a 18 hole championship golf course, and has both twilight offers available or the option of practicing your swing on the hotel's 2 storey floodlit driving range.

The Abbey Hotel also supports charitable initiatives and is committed towards involvement in the communities around, and for that they've dedicated a charity to support by raising funds. This year's dedicated charity run by The Abbey Hotel is the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Just 25 minutes from the Birmingham city centre, The Abbey Hotel in Redditch is also perfect for private events, breaks, weddings and conferences.

  4. Oh my gosh, that food looks amazing. I don't live too far away from here so I'll have to take a look at some point. In need of a few nights away. Plus a hotel with a bath and free toiletries is always a winner! x

  8. Ooh, I really want to stay here! It looks so good. It's such a shame that The Clothes Show has moved out of Birmingham now or I would have been needing somewhere to stay nearby in a couple of months time!
