Brighton sea side

I never say 'no' when I get a chance to avail a getaway far from home and from the normal everyday routine. It clearly serves as a refresher and helps me in making myself ready for the upcoming weeks. I always like to go off the beaten track (which it was, for me) and had been hoping to visit Brighton since a few months. Brighton, a sea side town that can also be labeled as a tourist trap. Although it's not very far from my home, the trip kept on getting delayed. However, finally I was able to make it to Brighton recently and the trip was absolutely fantastic!

We had our booking at the sea facing Brighton Harbour Hotel prior to the visit. On reaching Brighton, one of the major task was to find a suitable parking nearby. I did come across various private and council car parks but couldn't really find anything free or cheap. The council parking only allowed a maximum 2 hour stay and the car parks charge between £25-£30 for a 24 hour stay. I was aware of the collaboration between the NCP car park and Brighton Harbour Hotel, just 2 mins by walk from the hotel so we ended up parking the car there. NCP charges £30 for 24 hours but the hotel guests get a 50% off discount so we just had to pay £15 on exit.

Our room on the first floor had fantastic views of the sea and the Brighton Pier and a perfect king-size bed! We actually wanted an extra bed or a cot for BabyN' but it wasn't available so opted for the room with the largest bed, and although it was high (almost double than the one that we have in our house) because of which BabyN' couldn't get on it by himself, but he managed climbing on it by getting on the chair near it. These little explorers are so creative, aren't they?

Our bed was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep and despite it being a weekend, there was no noise from the outside. Immediately after checking in, I connected the WiFi to stay connected with family and friends but it seemed like it needed a boost, so I preferred using my mobile data instead.

Our room had a spacious cupboard, a mini-bar, snacking items (charged if used) and complimentary tea/coffee (all inside the cupboard). Other things in the cupboard included an iron, hair dryer and an umbrella. The hotel had also placed two decanters with generous amount of complimentary gin and sherry for the hotel guests. However, I do not consume alcohol, so that remained untouched.

Inside the washroom, there was a lovely walk-in shower, The White Company toiletries, ear buds/cotton pads and a shower cap for the hotel guests.

Brighton Harbour Hotels has a fantastic spa in the basement including facilities such as spa for massage and facial, gym, a massive swimming pool, sauna and steam room, 2 togetherness pools/Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy pool and relaxation rooms. We were told that the swimming time for children was allocated as they had arranged for an instructor, however, there wasn't anyone but BabyN' enjoyed swimming with his dad.

Next day's breakfast included a buffet which left me satiated after I was finished with it. The buffet included various juices, cereals, fruits, cakes and bakes while the hot breakfast wasn't already placed but was freshly prepared for us after we placed our order from the menu card on our breakfast table.

Later in the afternoon, we indulged ourselves with an afternoon tea known at the Brighton Harbour Hotel as the Harbour High Tea (£19.50 per person) which was served at The Jetty restaurant inside the hotel. There was a variety of teas and coffee as well as the non-alcoholic drinks to choose from and we opted for Chai Tea from the Tea Pigs selection. The bottomless tea was served with a variety of sandwiches, scones and cakes. We had mentioned our dietary requirements at the time of booking, which were well taken care of. The sandwiches we were served were soft and delicious while the bakes were rich in flavour because of which our overall experience was fantastic. It would no way be fair to skip mentioning that we enjoyed majestic sea views while sipping our tea which was truly relishable.

  2. Looks like you guys had an amazing weekend! I love that the hotel has color to it. Along hotels have almost a drab theme to them, but this one looks inviting and sleek at the same time. It's an off combination, but it definitely works for this place.

  6. Lovely hotel. Nice photographs as well. I love every opportunity to break free from the daily routine, too. A hotel staycation is probably the most convenient way to do it.
