Nanogen - Thickening Treatment for Thin Hair

23:51 Blogs by FA 50 Comments

After giving birth to my son, I observed a major hair fall and it further increased with his growth. It is said that it happens because of the changes in the woman's body but it was something that made me worried. Literally, I used to loose hair strands which made me extremely sad. Fortunately, that phase passed and I could see improvement but by this time I could already feel how my hair had thinned.

I was happy to to see some improvement but I had to do something to get my thick hair back. However, another bad hair-phase was after we moved to the South of England where the problem re-occurred.

It was the water. YES! It's so harsh especially to the hair and I could even feel dryness on my hands and feet which needed to be kept hydrated regularly. There was actually one more point at this stage which I later realized! I had changed my shampoo! It was a popular brand that was on promotion at Tesco so I bought a HUGE bottle but unfortunately my hair didn't accept the change so my old shampoo came to rescue!

This time onward, I did feel I should stop trying or experimenting new hair or even skin products. That's because I LOVE my hair and I didn't want to see them in the condition they were suffering from. So initially when I was sent a few products from the Nanogen hair care range, I did think twice before using them on my hair. But hold on! I have had a wonderful experience so far. Let me first introduce you to this hair care brand before sharing my experience using it's products.

About Nanogen:

Nanogen has launched a range of hair care products in the UK for both men and women and is being used by TV personalities and leading figures to attain healthier looking hair. The products they have launched are aimed to work as a thickening treatment for thin hairNanogen has aimed to provide salon-style treatments that give instant thickness, shine and volume to the hair and their products are enriched with peptides, anti-ageing hyaluronic acid, and breakthrough Nanogen growth factors. The products are also suitable for minoxidil users. None of their finished product has been tested on animals and they aim to be environmentally friendly in every way they can be.

My Experience:

The Nanogen Thickening Treatment Shampoo 240 ml bottle priced at £7.95 is a transparent coloured liquid that I feel smells of prickly heat powder. It does not have a creamy texture so the lather it makes isn't as much as the white or coloured creamy shampoos but it still is pretty good on the hair. All you need to do is to apply the shampoo on your hair and massage it for a minute before washing. After washing the shampoo from the hair, apply the Nanogen Thickening Treatment Conditioner (240 ml bottle for £8.95) and leave it on the hair for a couple of minutes.

Now since I am a mommy, I normally don't get much spare time so the first thing I do is shampoo, wash the hair and apply the conditioner so while I have to wait for the conditioner to do it's magic, I get done with the rest of the things. This does save time! So if you are a mommy, it's definitely a great TIP for you.

After washing the conditioner, simply dry the hair with a towel, spray some Nanogen Root Boost Hair Thickening Spray (£9.95) on your palm and apply it to your hair. The last thing to do is blow-dry and YAY! You have beautiful hair! I could notice the sheen and the shine just after the first wash and I am very serious!

I have just shared my personal experience but it might be different for you as there are so many other factors that have an impact on our hair. So I can't really comment on the duration it will take for you to achieve thick hair because that's also dependent on factors such as the quality of water being used to wash the hair, the diet of an individual, the exposure your hair gets (exposure to sun or dust, etc.) and your racial background.

So if you would like to try their Trail Size Keratin Hair Thickening Fibres worth £5.95 before buying the full-sized bottles, you can get it for free here (delivery charges apply). Besides the hair care products I have mentioned, there are also some more hair thickening products for both men and women, that Nanogen offers in their range. You can check them out on their website, here

  1. This looks like something I would try. But I usually have the opposite problem with my hair, way too much volume (afro). Any suggestions for that?

    1. Try straightening your hair with a simple hair straightener. I am assuming you have curly hair so it will reduce the voluminous look. :-)

  12. Women and haircare - a never ending story! I think we all have spent a fortune on it. I have thin hair and I noticed that natural products such as coconut or argan oil really help me. But still hunting for the perfect shampoo and conditioner. And as you said, the quality of water also plays an important role.

  17. Are these products also color friendly? I am always looking for a thickening shampoo but my hair is colored and I need protection for that too.

  18. My hair doesn't accept products with keratin. I can't blowdry or come near to heat after using products with keratin, it burns my hair. Seriously! Good that it worked for you.

  21. Sounds like it works wonder. I once had a case of my hair falling out but it's grown black beautifully over the years. But this is well noted. Will mention it to others also.

  22. Sounds great, but you're right about so many factors also affecting hair loss/growth too..so it's always important to focus on diet/water intake first, and then topical uses like shampoos/conditioners.

    1. We do need to use a shampoo and conditioner even if the diet/water is good but finding a good shampoo is also a tricky at times.
