Maintaining a healthy lifestyle should be an essential part of everyone’s life. Although myself being a mum, I do understand this goal can sometimes be quite challenging keeping in mind the fact how being a mum can be a very exhaustive task at times. With the never ending demands of the children, we might end up ignoring ourselves and often skip things planned for ourselves from the daily schedule. 

Replace Car with Walk

One of my top tips to maintain exercise is to encourage yourself to walk more frequently. This isn’t just considered a form of exercise, but feels refreshing too. Everyday when I need to go out for the nursery runs, I enjoy walking because I get to greet people on the way, I’m able to observe things more closely than when I’m in the car, and my muscles get to work. Also, breathing fresh air, listening to the sound of the breeze and the birds chirping can add positivity to anyone’s life and mood. Outdoor activities that promote exercise and healthy lifestyle include activities such as going on a walking trail or going fruit picking. It isn’t just a fabulous idea to inculcate these habits especially in the summer months, but it really helps the whole family to stay active and enjoy moments of family time together.

You can also find exercise that you can do as a family and this doesn’t really have to be something really like ‘exercise’ but it can be anything as simple as taking the stairs instead of using an elevator. After all, every movement counts! Activities like jumping or hopping, asking children to pretend like a bunny help too.

I also personally love the idea of getting kids connected with nature, either simply by walking in the park, planting a tree or a plant or doing any garden activities such as mowing the lawn, weeding or trimming the plants. Other summer outdoor activities include flying a kite in a park or near the beach, or playing tag with kids.

Healthy Eating Habits

Talking about a healthy diet in particular, encourage the whole family to have more fruits and vegetables. It’s always easier for the kids to grab and go, so pre-cut items would work quite well. To encourage them to consume healthy food, let them make their choices and choose from options for mealtime. Also, kids love to help in the kitchen and they feel more excited to eat, when they prepare something themselves even if they help in cutting fruits or setting up a fruit platter.
