Restaurant Review: Jimmy's World Grill & Bar, The O2 - London

Jimmys World Buffet O2 London

There was nothing really planned for the bank holiday weekend because what we were trying to plan had not gone very smoothly. Also, I was sent some tickets to a show in London but unfortunately decided not to because they weren't allowing children under 5 years of age. Thank God I had checked the website prior to leaving for the venue.

On Friday, I received an email from a lady who had sent two tickets to an exhibition for women organized at the Intercontinental O2 in London. This was the Saverah Women's Expo 2016 that featured different women entrepreneurs who represented their own created brands. It makes me feel so happy when I hear and see the entrepreneurship skills of women and see them doing great things. It does require a lot of hard work, yes A LOT, because the women have several other household responsibilities too!

The parking charge at the Intercontinental O2 was a BOMB! Literally! £6 for 2 hours parking is too much but that's how it is in London. Thankfully they had a car park nearby so we didn't have to walk to the venue. You know how I avoid walking, right?

After the exhibition, we decided to go inside the O2 arena as it was time for lunch and ended up eating at Jimmy's World Grill & Bar

Location & Parking:

The parking is available just outside the building so you won't have to walk much but it costs £6 for 2 hours or if you decide to stay for 4 hours, you pay £8. All the restaurants and the cinema are located inside the O2 arena and it's quite big. Jimmy's World Buffet at the O2 has an all day rate of £13.99 on Sundays but they have different rates on weekdays, different both for lunch and dinner and also vary at their other locations. They have their restaurant in 11 locations spread across the UK, mostly in London (Bath, Brighton, Epsom, Luton, Peterborough, Staines, Swansea, O2, Wartford, Wembly and Wimbledon). You can choose your desired location and check the prices, here

Seating & Interior:

Jimmy's World Grill & Bar at the O2 in London has their reception on the ground floor but for the meal, we had to go to the first floor. They have both stairs and a lift, and since we had a pushchair, we took the lift. The restaurant is very spacious and can accommodate lots of people at one time. Their seating can be seen below in the picture and I was pretty comfortable with it. We were given a corner seat, which I was happy about as I always prefer some privacy from the rest of the diners.

The Dining Experience:

The buffet offers different cuisines such as Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Indian and Chinese so I really liked the variety they have. The drinks are not included in the buffet price but they do give water for free, if you want. If you want to order any other drinks, you can always do that by ordering from the drinks menu which is already kept on every table.

Since I had gone on a Sunday and also a bank holiday weekend, the restaurant was very busy but it didn't take long for us to get seated because Jimmy's World Buffet at the O2 is quiet spacious. There was a bit of noise inside but it lowered after some time. Again, there were birthday parties going on there too, so there was noise from them, thankfully they soon realized they are not alone at the restaurant so they quieted a bit.

I started off my meal with an ice cream because it was warm that day and I was feeling hot and thirsty so wanted to cool myself down. I am the sort of human who prefers cooler temperatures and I like wearing jackets, you know?

The overall quality of food was good but like every restaurant, there are some things that every person likes and some do not really suit their taste. I just tried selected food such as Indian, Chinese, Italian and the starters because I mostly enjoy eating starters and desserts at buffet restaurants and not really the mains.

Jimmy's World Grill & Bar at the O2 also has live cooking stations where they make stir fry noodles and pasta according to your choice. So everyone has a lot of choice of food and I am sure you will find what you are in the mood of eating.

While eating, I realized I had started eating less and have become a picky eater especially when it comes to taste. Don't know the reason but that's how it is now. Earlier, I used to try everything at buffet restaurants. Yes ALMOST (a bite at least) but now I don't even go towards things I don't prefer eating, sushi being one!

They have a good variety of Chinese. I tried all but there was a yellow coloured chicken gravy that almost ruined my taste buds for a minute because it had too much of turmeric and garlic. Don't remember the name but I warned my husband from tasting it so beware!

The dessert section had different kinds of cakes such as lemon and red velvet cake, flapjacks, an ice cream station with chocolate and strawberry sauce and fruits that included oranges, pineapples and melons. They also had mango yoghurt and rice pudding, that I liked. There were also some other cakes but they contained gelatin so I didn't try because I wasn't sure if the gelatin was Halal. I liked the desserts I tried. Flapjacks tasted very sweet and slightly burnt compared to the ones I normally buy from ASDA but I liked how they tasted. The rice pudding, lemon cake and red velvet cake was good too.

We decided to play around and husband also created a dessert that you can see below. It's a piece of red velvet cake topped with ice cream and chocolate and strawberry sauce on it. The combo was perfect! I loved it but it could have been even better if the cake was slightly warm. I love such desserts! Do you?

End Note:

All the meats served at the restaurant are Halal. Jimmy's World Grill & Bar at the O2 in London seemed very popular as there were many people seen dining there. Also, they have a loyalty card and you need to register it online prior to paying the bill so you can start collecting points. The staff at restaurants mostly don't tell these kind of these. You just need to discover yourself. That's what I have experienced personally.

I got the card after paying for the meal so it wasn't of any help in collecting any points last time but I can use it if I remember to register it and if I plan to go there next time. They also have some competition on their social media. You simply need to upload a photo with #LoveJimmys and you might win a meal for two! Try your luck with that!

Rating: 7.5/10

Have you dined at Jimmy's World Buffet & Bar at the O2 or at any of their other locations? I would love to know about your experience or about your favourite buffet restaurant.

  3. Never tried Jimmys. The buffet I've tried was more French/Italian or Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese). But I'll try those when the opportunity comes, I'll certainly taste Mexican/Indian. But I'm a bit like you tho, I prefer starters and desserts than mains at buffet restaurants. Thank you sharing the tip of the loyalty card !

  4. I am not so a fan of buffet restaurants. When they are quite busy it's ok as they always put fresh food on the buffet. But when the place is empty, food often stands for hours outside. So when we go there (my people are not as picky as I am :D ) I always order from one of the cooking stations.

    1. That's indeed a good idea. Buffet restaurants mostly have live cooking stations so you can always get the freshly made food for yourself. :-)

  9. I have not eaten there before. I am not usually a fan of buffets because most of the time I just want to eat one thing. But I like the idea of different styles of food being offered so you can try a taste of everything.

    1. That's how the parking rates in London are. For those going for a movie, parking is free. Haha, the name doesn't seem much fancy because there are other restaurants with such kind of names too. Yeah, even I was surprised to know that they give free water.

  20. I'm with you. I don't like sushi either - and I've tried what some say is great sushi. Yuck. I just can't do it. I used to try and eat a lot at a buffet, but I also now just pick a few things. No sense in making myself miserable!

  22. I love the interior - not that spectacular but decent. Best is it offers wide selections of cuisines.

  23. That parking is extortionate! It does look lovely though - It's a shame I never really venture far and try different restaurants etc. We don't eat out very much at all and if we do it's always a venue local to us! I'd probably never make it as far as the O2! lol - lovely photos x

  25. I'm just like you, I love starters and desserts more than the main dishes. And because I'm also a pasta lover, the cooking stations work well for me especially with the Italian dishes.
